The REDD+ program is led by a Project Management Unit (PMU). Since the adoption of the Readiness Preparation Proposal in 2012 - then under the leadership of Mr. John Goedschalk - this team experienced some changes. The transition phase of the REDD+ project was led by Mrs. Haidy Malone-Lepelblad. The Readiness phase was started by Mrs. Madhawi Ramdin, followd by Mr. Anil Pershad. Sinds August 2017 the PMU is being led by mrs. Sandra Bihari.
The REDD+ team consists of eight full-time members, who together form the Project Management Unit. The REDD+ project is part of the tasks of NIMOS, the National Institute for Environment and Development in Suriname.
