In the period 19 - 21 March 2018 a REDD + delegation from our neighboring country Guyana visited the Project Management Unit (PMU) of the Suriname REDD + Project. This at the invitation of the National Institute for Environment and Development in Suriname (NIMOS), the Technical Focal Point of the Suriname REDD + Project. The Guyana team visited the village of Matta on 20 March where the NIMOS REDD + PMU held a REDD + information session for the local population. Under the supervision of the Forest Management and Forest Monitoring Foundation (SBB), which is implementation partner within the REDD + Project, the delegation visited the Dennebos concession on 21 March, where information was exchanged about sustainable timber exploitation. NIMOS-REDD + PMU and the Guyana delegation look back on a successful experience exchange. In the near future, a Surinamese delegation will pay a return visit to the REDD + Project in Guyana.
